Bagnet Kare-Kare
That was for lunch yesterday. I had a brilliant idea of using bagnet* my mother bought from Laoag instead of using oxtail because we don't have any decent meat inside the kitchen except for... bagnet and longganisa.
Also made ginisang bagoong* and made the whole house stinky! Took about a whole day for the bad odor to dissipate.
I did a lot of improvising lately. You make do with what you have and create a masterpiece out of odd ingredients in the house. Kinda feels like a culinary mad scientist. Kind of. It's not so bad and it's very challenging. Reminds me of Door Knock Dinners with Gordon Elliot.
*Bagnet is an Ilocos Norte delicacy otherwise known as deep fried pork meat. Not to be eaten everyday, people
*Ginisang bagoong is just some stir fried shrimp paste with onions, garlic, vinegar and maybe some sugar to lessen the saltiness
